Observator’s OMC-150 is the only cup and vane wind sensor with ATEX and IECeX certification available on the market and suitable for installation in hazardous areas (zone x). It is used to be installed with a large (450x460x905mm) interface & zener barrier box.
Observator is proud to announce a new release of the OMC-158, logically called OMC-158-2. This interface unit will replace the large interface and zener barrier and is available for shipment in Q1 of 2017.
The new OMC-158-2 has the dimensions of (99x35x114.5 mm) and can be mounted on a standard DIN-rail. External zener barriers are no longer required as the new OMC-158-2 design is intrinsic safe, allowing the unit to be provided with marking Ex ia IIC T4 Gb of the ATEX and IECeX certification.
In general the new OMC-158-2 is powered from an Observator display, such as the OMC-140, or from Observator’s MeteoLink. An external power source can also be used with a supply voltage of 12 to 24 Vdc. The output is a standard NMEA 183 output. By setting the dipswitches on the front of the unit the output can be set for either 4800 or 9600 baud, a ‘VER’ message can be added to the data message and the measurement rate can be set to 1 or 4 measurements per second.
